Is this the beginning of the end? Is this the beginning of the end?

Is this the beginning of the end?  I think yes!  No one needs a recap on what the last year has been like living in a world plagued-literally- by the coronavirus.

We all lived it.  For some, the consequences were more devastating than others.  But it impacted every person in one way or another.  For lawyers, judges, criminals, and victims alike, one impact we all shared, was that the court houses in Connecticut were physically closed.  Business as usual came to a screeching halt.  And then stayed that way.  Jurors were not needed for jury service.  This probably came as good news for every person who has ever gotten a jury summons, and then grumbled or rolled their eyes.  But no juries, means no trials.  No trials means that those accused of crimes have to wait for their day in court.  Victims have to wait for their day in court.  And justice delayed is justice denied my friends.

Little by little, the sun seems to be breaking through the clouds.  As of May 19, 2021, Connecticut began loosening the mask restrictions previously in place to prevent against the spread of coronavirus.  And with so much joy in my heart, ready to scream it from the rooftops, I am pleased to report that the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch has announced that jury trials will resume effective June 1, 2021.  Finally, our clients will get their day in court.  Finally, justice will be served.  This is the beginning, of the end of a world plagued by the coronavirus.  This is the beginning of the end of delayed justice for our clients!
